Another month? How? What is time, even? In any case, it’s time for another update. Last time out I announced I would soon begin streaming. And I did! I’ve been streaming weekly, every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. PDT. Based on a Mastodon poll I posted, I have been streaming breakdowns of how I made various tracks on The Mechanics of Mysticism. I open up the Ableton track, go thru it track by track (more or less) and read excerpts of the contemporaneous notes I took while making it. I post the videos here under the Production Diary category, and I made a playlist:

I mentioned I rearranged the modular in last month’s update and, as I hoped, it’s sparked a bit of a resurgence in my use of it. Doesn’t hurt that I don’t have much else, hardware wise, unpacked at the moment. I’ve made some nice little patches using rungler-driven melodies and various ways of realizing them. Also some cool sound design, including a successful experiment in making some custom wavetables for Pigments. At some point, I’ll do a video/stream (and hopefully an accompanying blog) on those, and then probably release them in some form, probably along with a patch bank.

Finally, I am working out a deal to try something new I have always wanted to do: produce someone else’s album! The artist is a friend from online (not ready to identify them more specifically than that for now) and they brought a few more or less written songs, a few song skeletons and some ideas. We’ll see if I can help them turn those into an album. Stay tuned! With luck I will have an update on it in time for the next monthly status report.

Until then!
