Status Report 3/26

Well well, aren’t we a little late on this status report? I wish I could say it was because I was so busy working on music that I just haven’t had time but the truth is a little less sexy — I’ve been so busy working to pay my bills and take care of the fam that I haven’t had time!

But we’re here now, so let’s look at my status, eh?

I have several collaborations in the work! I have settled on a preliminary name for the release that will contain the collabs and am actively working on the cover art now. Once I have two or three tracks that I want to release, I will put the album up for a low intro price, then slowly raise it as I add tracks until it is “full price” (whatever that means). It’s been fun working with people! And very illuminating in some ways, too, in terms of what it suggests about workflow and how others approach creation. Anyway, I am hoping to get it out in the next few weeks.

I continue to fall behind on the How to Synth project, and I apologize. It’s just been hard to find the time to write, and the writing itself is technical and fidgety and I don’t want to mess it up. Excuses, excuses, I know — but IO promise, FM Basics II IS coming! Soon! I swear!

I made some progress on some of my own music, too. I finally processed all of my Ableton Move sketches and am ready to move forward with some of those, plus I have some good stuff I came up with for Jamuary. Now the long process of actually finishing some music! In related news, I am on the verge of launching a side project as well! It’s a project focused on live synth performances/improvisations, and I intend to release a bunch of stuff for it. I am pulling all the pieces together now, and I will have more to say very soon. Finally… is it time to kill these status reports? I started them 9 months ago largely as an accountability tool for myself, since I went loooong periods without posting anything but Other People’s Music entries. Since then, I have been posting more regularly, including weekly posts to keep you up to date with what I am streaming. Maybe these aren’t needed any more? Let me know what you think…
